Underwriting Assistant (Insurance)

We're working with a leading commercial insurance provider seeking three Underwriting Assistants to join their London-based team.

This is a permanent role offering up to £33,500 plus a 7.5% bonus, with a hybrid working model (typically Tuesday to Thursday in-office). You'll be aligned to a small group of underwriters within the Commercial Property & Casualty team, supporting bespoke underwriting activity in a collaborative and social environment.

About the Role

This is an administrative role within the operations function, acting as the first point of contact between underwriting and business support.

You'll be responsible for ensuring risks and amendments are accurately processed onto internal systems in a timely manner.

You'll also liaise with offshore processing teams, support documentation and reporting, and help resolve queries related to cash and credit control.

Key Responsibilities

. Process submissions, policies, and updates accurately and on time.. Liaise with underwriters to gather required information.. Coordinate with offshore processing teams and perform quality checks.. Maintain documentation and monitor performance against SLAs and KPIs.. Support resolution of unallocated cash and outstanding debt queries.. Assist with month-end procedures and audit activities.. Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvements.. Build strong relationships with underwriters and other stakeholders.

About the Team

You'll be part of a friendly and sociable team supporting Commercial Property & Casualty underwriting.

The team is split into two groups (Property and Casualty) and you'll typically work with 3-4 underwriters.

The environment is collaborative, with a strong work-life balance. There are clear career paths into Assistant Underwriter or Senior Operations Technician roles.

Skills and Experience

. 1+ year of experience in an insurance environment, ideally in an underwriting support role.. Experience with commercial property and casualty insurance is beneficial.. Familiarity with Genius/IRIS systems is a plus.. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.. Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.. Ability to manage deadlines and work independently.. Analytical mindset and attention to detail.
