Role Overview:

An excellent secondary school with a thriving Sixth Form in Brent is seeking a proactive and organised Study Mentor to support their Year 12 and 13 students. This is a full-time role ideal for someone with experience working in a school environment, who can confidently manage independent study spaces and encourage effective learning habits among post-16 learners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Sixth Form students during independent study sessions, ensuring a calm, focused, and productive environment.

  • Monitor student attendance during supervised study and follow up on any unauthorised absences or lateness.

  • Support the academic and pastoral development of students by encouraging positive learning behaviours.

  • Maintain order and uphold school expectations in study areas.

  • Liaise with Sixth Form staff, pastoral teams, and teachers where necessary to raise concerns or provide updates.

  • Complete daily registers and provide feedback to the school's Sixth Form leadership team.

  • Assist with administrative tasks as requested by the Sixth Form team.

Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

  • Previous experience working with secondary or post-16 students (e.g. in schools, colleges, or youth settings)

  • Strong classroom or group management skills

  • Ability to foster a focused, respectful, and supportive environment

  • Reliable, punctual, and professional

  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to obtain one through the agency)

  • Right to work in the UK

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working with 16-19-year-olds in an educational setting

  • Knowledge of the post-16 curriculum and progression pathways

  • Experience using school data systems (e.g., SIMS or similar)

  • Background in education, youth work, mentoring, or tutoring
