TEFL-Qualified Teaching Assistant - Secondary School, Brent September 2025 Start

Are you TEFL-qualified and passionate about supporting young people in their language development? Do you want to use your English language teaching skills in a dynamic secondary school environment?

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming and diverse secondary school in Brent that is seeking a TEFL-qualified Teaching Assistant to support students with English as an Additional Language (EAL) from September 2025. This full-time, long-term role is ideal for someone who wants to make a meaningful difference by helping EAL students access the curriculum and thrive academically.

About the Role:

As a TEFL Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with EAL needs.

  • Help students build their English language proficiency in speaking, listening, reading, and writing.

  • Support students in accessing lessons across the curriculum, particularly in English, Humanities, and other language-heavy subjects.

  • Work closely with EAL coordinators, teachers, and the SEN department to track progress and adapt support.

  • Help develop resources and strategies to aid language acquisition and build student confidence.

What We're Looking For:
  • A TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, or equivalent English language teaching qualification.

  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting.

  • Strong written and spoken English skills, with the ability to support grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension.

  • A patient, empathetic, and culturally sensitive approach.

  • Ability to support students from a wide range of language backgrounds.

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or above); a degree is desirable but not essential.
