Job Title: Contracts Manager (Technical Bias) Salary: 70,000 per annum Location: Site-based, Monday to Friday Hours: 08:00 - 17:00 (No overtime)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and driven Contracts Manager (Technical Bias) to lead and manage a portfolio of hard services contracts. This role is responsible for the strategic and operational delivery of services, ensuring all financial, compliance, and customer satisfaction objectives are achieved or exceeded.

You will provide strong leadership to engineering teams, collaborate closely with support and helpdesk functions, and build solid relationships with clients. This is a hands-on role requiring a proactive, commercially minded approach to operations, compliance, and team development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide operational leadership and technical direction across multiple sites.

  • Act as the lead for Health & Safety, ensuring compliance across all contracts.

  • Ensure PPM and reactive maintenance are delivered in line with statutory and contractual obligations.

  • Build strong client relationships; attend regular meetings and maintain open lines of communication.

  • Manage financial performance of contracts including full ownership of P&L, WIP, and debt.

  • Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management of engineering staff.

  • Maintain accurate asset registers and ensure all documentation is up to date.

  • Monitor and report operational KPIs through weekly flash and monthly reports.

  • Lead on contract retention, service expansion, and identifying new business opportunities.

  • Carry out regular site audits, toolbox talks, and H&S inspections.

  • Ensure engineers are fully equipped, trained, and supported to carry out their duties effectively.

  • Review and audit logbooks, PPM, and reactive tasks for quality assurance.

  • Liaise with helpdesk teams to ensure callouts and escalations are handled appropriately.

  • Ensure procurement processes are efficient and cost-effective.

RequirementsEducation & Training:
  • Ideally degree or HND qualified in a technical or engineering discipline.

  • Strong knowledge of ACOPs, fire safety, environmental controls, and Health & Safety regulations.

  • Evidence of continuous professional development.

Experience:
  • Experience as a Contract Manager or Senior Supervisor in a hard FM environment is essential.

  • Proven track record in people management, recruitment, and staff development.

  • Financially astute with experience managing budgets and commercial reporting.

  • Familiarity with statutory compliance and technical building systems.

Skills & Competencies:
  • Excellent leadership and motivational skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities.

  • Organised and proactive with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

  • Confident decision-maker with a hands-on approach to problem-solving.

  • Comfortable using IT systems and management tools.

Additional Information
  • Site-based, Monday to Friday, with no overtime required.

  • Occasional travel and overnight stays may be necessary to support operational delivery.
