The RoleWe are seeking a Java Backend Developer to join us on a permanent basis via the Robert Walters Consultancy. Your first assignment will be at JP Morgan, in London. What you'll do

• Design and deliver scalable, resilient data solutions using domain-driven approaches
• Write clean, secure, and maintainable code that supports long-term evolution
• Ensure high system availability through robust architecture and zero-downtime releases
• Monitor performance, optimise data flows, and resolve issues to prevent recurrence
• Maintain reliable, production-ready systems and support incident management
• Drive continuous improvement of technologies, standards, and engineering practices while mentoring team members

What you bring

• Strong Back End engineering background with Java and Spring Boot
• Experience designing microservices and building cloud-native applications
• Proficiency with Kafka or similar messaging technologies
• Solid SQL knowledge and experience with relational databases
• Hands-on experience with distributed systems, APIs, testing, and production support of critical applications
• Ability to mentor others, manage stakeholders, and communicate effectively in English
