Support Assistant (Mental Health - Adults)

Location: West Kensington

Salary: 13.00 - 13.85 per hour

Hours: Part time

Job type: Temporary contract / Shift work

Our client is one of the largest providers of supported accommodation services various clients such as young people and adults, clients with a history of homelessness, resettlement, health, and substance misuse issues. They aim to help vulnerable people find opportunities to change their lives and futures.

You will work with clients at their pace to develop their independent living skills, manage their prescribed treatment, develop their living skills, develop & manage relationships, build social networks and access education, training, or employment, by completing comprehensive needs and risk assessments with clients and identifying short-term objectives.

Duties:

  • Accompanying clients to scheduled appointments
  • Reminding clients of significant events, e.g. rent/service charge payments, attending statutory appointments in order to comply with treatment or criminal justice requirements
  • Motivating and coaching clients to attend appointments/engage in activities
  • Supporting clients in the processes of moving to permanent or new accommodation
  • Completing forms and applications with clients
  • Ensuring that information necessary for the client to be successfully referred into other services is available and forwarded
  • Recording data accordingly, record accurately, up to date and useful information including recording all contacts with clients appropriately to promote effective service delivery and evaluation and ensure all recording systems are up to date
  • To assist clients with life skills development and participation in activities to promote increased independence and involvement in the community
  • To be aware of and comply with policies and procedures for safe working practices for staff and clients
  • Participate fully in team meetings, supervisions, performance reviews and training
  • To assist the case holding Support Worker to assess each client's practical support needs and develop their support plan
  • To assist clients with life skills development and participation in activities to promote increased independence and involvement in the community
  • Providing support to adults with some challenging behaviours or mental health
  • To support clients to manage the health and safety of their homes, including minimising fire and environmental risks and accident prevention

Requirements:

  • Good level of literacy and numeracy
  • Six months of experience within support work (homelessness, resettlement, mental health, vulnerable adults)
  • Basic IT skills
  • Coaching skills
  • Willingness to work flexibly in response to changing organisational requirements and work outside of office hours.
