A nationally recognised law firm based in Birmingham is seeking a talented Construction Solicitor to join their thriving and high-performing Construction team. This is an exciting opportunity for a Construction Solicitor to work on a diverse range of high-quality matters within a supportive and forward-thinking legal environment.

The successful Construction Solicitor will play a key role in both contentious and non-contentious work, including construction disputes, adjudications, mediations and contract negotiation. Working closely with experienced professionals, the Construction Solicitor will gain excellent exposure to a variety of commercial and residential projects, developing expertise across all stages of construction legal work.

The Construction Solicitor's role

The Construction Solicitor will manage a broad caseload involving construction-related litigation, adjudication, and alternative dispute resolution. There will also be regular involvement in non-contentious work such as drafting and negotiating standard form contracts (e.g. JCT and NEC), bespoke agreements, collateral warranties, bonds, and letters of intent.

Additionally, the role includes attending client meetings, providing fast and pragmatic advice, and contributing to business development activities. The firm is known for its collaborative approach, providing its lawyers with the tools and mentorship to succeed.

The Construction Solicitor

To be considered for this Construction Solicitor role, candidates would ideally have:

  • 1-3 years' post-qualification experience in construction law

  • Experience assisting on construction disputes, including TCC litigation, adjudication, and mediation

  • Familiarity with the Pre-action Protocol for Construction and Engineering Disputes

  • Some experience drafting and negotiating JCT/NEC and bespoke contracts

  • Strong client-facing and drafting skills

  • Ability to manage competing deadlines and work both independently and within a team

  • A genuine interest in construction and engineering law; knowledge of energy law is a plus
