JOB TITLE: Acquisitions Officer LOCATION: Ealing West London, W5 2HL / 2 days office / 3 days remote

PAY RATE: 22.33 PAYE / 29.05 umbrella per hour START DATE: ASAP DURATION/Hours: 3-month initial contract/ 35 hours a week IR35 STATUS: Inside

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procure a sufficient supply of private sector accommodation to meet the needs of clients in housing need.
  • Develop and implement marketing and procurement strategies to maximize the availability of affordable accommodation.
  • Provide advice, support, and encouragement to landlords, increasing the number of directly managed units.
  • Maintain effective relationships with new and existing accommodation suppliers.
  • Ensure compliance with housing standards and regulations, including property inspections and safety checks.
  • Administer landlord incentive schemes and prepare relevant documentation.
  • Promote the Council's private sector schemes through campaigns, seminars, and training.
  • Organize and manage the annual Landlords Forum.
  • Provide support to landlords through forums, newsletters, and up-to-date website information.
  • Prepare lease and contract documentation and manage end-of-lease negotiations.
  • Respond to enquiries from clients, MPs, Councillors, and other stakeholders.

Key Performance Indicators:

  • Number of properties acquired according to scheme
  • Number of landlords accredited
  • Number of leases extended
  • Reduction of households in B&B Shared Accommodation
  • Delivery of private sector leased accommodation at nil cost to the Council

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Experience working with private sector landlords
  • Knowledge of temporary housing subsidy systems and welfare benefits
  • Understanding of the private sector rental market and procurement processes
  • Familiarity with homelessness legislation and property inspections
  • Strong negotiating skills and ability to manage own workload
  • Effective team player with excellent communication skills
